Blogi siirtyy uuteen osoitteeseen, kesä näyttää vielä lämpimältä

Kesäiset säät ovat osin hellineet, osin tuskastuttaneet suuressa osassa maata usean päivän ajan. Paikoin lämpötilat ovat kohonneet lähelle +30 astetta, joka on tähän aikaan vuodesta hyvin harvinaista, ellei jopa poikkeuksellista. Lämpimään ilmamassaan on syntynyt ukkosia lähes päivittäin ja niinpä tyypillisen toukokuun salamasaldo alkaakin olla plakkarissa. Tämä kaakosta pitkään puhaltanut helleilmamassa majailee Suomen yllä vielä muutaman päivän, mutta viikon loppua kohti sää alkaa viiletä pohjoisesta alkaen.

Perjantaina kylmä rintama lähtee matkaamaan kohti etelään, mutta etelässä päästään vielä hyvin kesäisiin lukemiin. Ensimmäinen kylmä rintama pyyhkäisee Suomen ulkopuolelle viikonlopun aikana ja uusi annos kylmempää ilmaa tulee alkuviikolla, jolloin Suomi kuuluu matalapaineen alueeseen. Muutos onkin melkoinen verrattuna viime päivien hellesäihin. Päivälämpötilat tippuvatkin suuressa osassa maata noin 10-15 astetta ja yöhalloja voi esiintyä sekä Lapissa tulla räntää tai lunta. Vielä on hieman epävarmaa kuinka viileäksi sää lopulta muodostuu ensi viikolla, mutta viileneminen jokatapauksessa näyttää tapahtuvan. Yhtä lailla on epävarmaa milloin sää jälleen uudestaan lämpiäisi. Pidemmissä ennusteissa ei ole selkeitä viitteitä suuntaan tai toiseen.

Kesälomakausi alkaa olla kohta käsillä. Jo keväällä näytti siltä, että kesästä olisi tulossa pääosin lämmin, vaikka hetkittäin pohjoisesta pääsisikin purkautumaan kylmempää ilmaa. Uusimmat vuodenaikaisennusteet edelleen ennakoivat joko tavanomaista tai sitä lämpimämpää kesää. Viileän kesän todennäköisyys on melko alhainen. Euroopan keskipitkien sääennusteiden keskuksen tuorein ennuste näyttää melko tavallista alkukesää lämpötilojen osalta, mutta lämpenevää loppukesäksi. Yhdysvaltain vastaava ennuste on päinvastainen, ennakoiden alkukesäksi lämpimämpää kuin loppukesäksi. Kolmen eurooppalaisen mallin kombinaatio näyttää koko kesäksi keskimäärin selvästi tavanomaista lämpimämpää. Tämä ei tosin tarkoita, että lämmintä olisi koko ajan, sillä samaan päästään mikäli kesällä esiintyy muutama hyvin lämmin jakso ja muuten olisi "tavallista" säätä.

Pieni mielenkiintoinen knoppi viime päivien ukkosista. Torstaina illalla kaakosta saapui hieman järjestäytyneempi ukkosrypäs. Se heikkeni yöksi ja jatkoi sadealueena kohti pohjoista. Aamun satelliittikuvat paljasti varsin mielenkiintoisen yksityiskohdan.

Illan ukkossoluryppään sisään kehittyi pieni matalapaine (mesomatala), joka jatkoi matkaansa varsinaisen syvän konvektion loputtua ja näkyi aamulla hienosti entisen Oulun läänin ja Etelä-Lapin alueella niin sanottuna mesoskaalan konvektiivisena pyörteenä. Näitä harvemmin Suomessa näkee.

Saa nähdä kuinka käy. Olen jo pitkään katsellut, että kovimmat hellekesät ovat toistuneet keskimäärin 4-5 vuoden välein: 1997, 2002, 2006 ja... 2010? Kaikki nämä aiemmat kesät ovat olleet 2-2,5 astetta keskimääräistä lämpimämpiä. Kaksi edellistä kesäähän olivat melko tavanomaisia keskilämpötiloiltaan, 2008 tosin monin paikoin sateinen.
